What happens during an installation visit
- Site check: the technician looks at the indoor wall, the outdoor unit position, the pipe route and the power point.
- Indoor unit: fitted level on a solid wall, with enough space above and to the sides for airflow.
- Outdoor unit: placed on a stand or brackets in a ventilated spot, away from heavy dust and direct water.
- Copper piping and wiring: joined, insulated and routed neatly, with the drain line given a downward slope.
- Vacuum and leak check: air and moisture are removed from the pipes and the joints are checked before the gas is opened.
- Test run: we check cooling, drain flow, noise and vibration before leaving.
Things to decide before the visit
- Where the indoor unit will go. Avoid a spot where cool air blows straight at a bed or desk, or where a curtain or cupboard blocks the airflow.
- Where the outdoor unit can safely sit. In flats and apartments, check whether your building or society allows a bracket or ledge on the outer wall and who is responsible for safe access.
- The power point. An AC needs a proper socket and MCB rated for its load. If wiring needs to change, tell us before the visit so the right person can be arranged.
- Size of the room. As a rough guide, a 1 ton AC suits a small room and a 1.5 ton AC suits a medium bedroom or living room. Sun exposure, top floor rooms and kitchens need more capacity. Choose the capacity before buying the AC, not after.
AC uninstallation and shifting
When you move house or office, the AC is removed carefully so the gas stays in the unit and the pipes are not damaged. At the new place it is fitted again with fresh piping where needed. Shifting jobs often need a gas check afterwards, because pipes and joints are disturbed. Tell us the AC type and the floor of both locations when you call.
What affects the cost
The cost depends on the type of AC, the pipe length, whether a new stand or bracket is needed, the wall type, the floor you live on and whether extra wiring or drain work is required.
