Overview
An AC does not use up its gas like a car uses fuel. The refrigerant circulates in a sealed system, so if the gas is low, there is usually a leak somewhere. Topping up without finding the leak means the problem returns. RR Cooling Point does AC gas filling in Lucknow the full way: we check the pressure, find and fix the leak where possible, remove air from the system and then refill. The technician explains the fault and shares the cost before any work starts.
Signs that your AC may be low on gas
- The AC runs for a long time but the room cools slowly or not at all
- Ice or frost on the copper pipe or on the indoor unit
- Hissing sound, or oily marks at pipe joints or near the outdoor unit
- Air from the indoor unit feels only slightly cool
- The compressor keeps running and the electricity bill goes up
These signs can also come from a choked filter, a dirty coil, a weak fan or a failing capacitor. A good technician checks these first, so you do not pay for gas that the AC did not need.
Which gas does my AC use
The refrigerant type is printed on the label of the outdoor unit. Older ACs often use R22, and many newer split ACs use R32 or R410A. These gases are not interchangeable and each AC needs the correct type and quantity. Please tell us the AC brand and model when you book, or send a photo of the outdoor unit label on WhatsApp.
How we do gas filling
- Check cooling, filters, coils and fan to rule out other faults
- Measure pressure and temperature to confirm whether gas is really low
- Find the leak using a pressure test or a soap and pipe check
- Repair the leak point where it is a joint, flare nut or valve that can be fixed
- Remove air and moisture from the system with a vacuum pump
- Fill the correct gas to the recommended level and check cooling after the refill
When a refill alone is not enough
If the leak is inside the indoor or outdoor coil, or the compressor is weak, a refill will not last. In that case the technician tells you what is wrong, what the repair will cost and what your options are, including whether repair makes sense for the age of the AC. You are never asked to approve work before you have seen the quote.
Why Lucknow summers make this worth checking early
Lucknow has long, hot summers from April to June, and an AC with low gas works harder for less cooling. Checking the AC before the season starts is easier than waiting for a breakdown in peak heat, when technician slots fill quickly. If you plan to switch the AC on after months of rest, a basic service and gas pressure check is a sensible first step.
What affects the cost
The cost depends on the type of gas, the quantity needed, whether a leak has to be repaired and how easy it is to reach the pipes and valves. Because of this, the cost is shared after inspection and not before.

We serve Lucknow and nearby localities. See the Service Areas page, or call us if your location is not shown. If you need a new AC fitted or an AC moved, see our AC Installation page.
Frequently asked questions
Does an AC need gas filling every year? No. Gas does not get used up in normal running. If it is low, there is a leak, and the leak should be repaired.
How do I know if my AC needs gas? Weak cooling, ice on the pipe or an oily patch at a joint are common signs, but the technician should check pressure before filling.
Can you fill R32, R410A and R22 gas? We check the gas type on your AC label when you book and confirm what can be done on inspection.
Will you tell me the cost before filling? Yes. The technician explains the fault and shares the cost before work begins.
